Privacy Policy

Waypoint is a private-pilot (PPL) flight-training tracker. It helps student pilots and their flight instructors (CFIs) see training progress, requirements, and endorsements in one place. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it.

Account: your email address and a password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in readable form).

Profile: your name, flight school, training type, the CFI you work with, medical certificate class and dates, IACRA tracking number, knowledge-test dates, and your aircraft/cost rate settings.

Training data: your flight logbook entries, computed requirement progress, self-assessed proficiency, personal notes, and endorsements signed by your CFI.

CFI accounts additionally store your certificate number and expiration and the students linked to you.

We do not collect payment information (the app is free during early access).

To provide the tracker: store your logbook, compute your FAA requirement progress, and generate the read-only progress links you choose to share with a CFI or examiner.

To support you and keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Read-only share links: only when you generate one and send it. Anyone with that link can view your progress report (it never shows your costs).

Service providers (sub-processors) that run the app on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and data hosting) and Vercel (application hosting). Your data is stored in the United States.

We may disclose information if required by law. We will never sell your personal information.

Your data is isolated per-account using database row-level security, encrypted in transit, and access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach as required by law.

Access and export: you can download your full logbook and data anytime from the app (Share → Back up your own copy).

Correction and deletion: you can edit your data in the app, and you can request deletion of your account and data by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability); contact us to exercise them.

Retention: we keep your data until you delete your account or ask us to remove it.

Waypoint is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Student pilots may be minors (16–17); if you are under 18, please use Waypoint with a parent or guardian’s involvement and consent.

We use only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
